A military briefing at 4 p.m. said three soldiers fired shots at the Soldiers Readiness Processing Center, a complex of several buildings. Most of those killed were also soldiers, according to the briefing by Lt. Gen. Robert Cone, the post commander. One shooter was killed and the other two were in custody, he said. Cone said that local police responded relatively quickly and killed one of the shooters. He said he believed that one Fort Hood civilian police officer was among the dead. Fort Hood has contract and military police, he said. "This is a terrible tragedy," Cone said. ABC News identified the dead assailant as Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan of Virginia.

Maya Angelou Is Hospitalized
Pulitzer Prize-nominated author and poet Maya Angelou was taken to the hospital Sunday for as-yet-unknown causes, TMZ.com reported.
Angelou, 81, was in Los Angeles to be honored at the BraveHeartAwards, celebrating women who have made changes in their professional fields. Other celebrities scheduled to attend the weekend-long ceremonies were Mariel Hemingway and Courteney Cox, according to the awards' site.
Angelou gained worldwide fame with her literary activism in the Civil Rights movement and for works like "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings," an autobiographical account of her childhood and early teenage years. The book recounted Angelou's experience with sexual abuse and rape at the age of 8 at the hands of her mother's boyfriend.
She was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for her 1971 poetry collection, "Just Give Me a Cool Drink of Water 'Fore I Diiie." No word if she has passed. It's rumor for now. I'll update as soon as possible.
Update: Maya was not hospitalized. Her reps denied the fact that she was even taken to a hospital and Maya is fine, she is preparing to give a speech for an event in a couple hours.

Kandi Burruss, the newest cast member of the hit reality show, “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” is coping with the tragic death of her fiance, A.J., who has been featured regularly on the show.Burruss' publicist, Lisa Nelson, confirmed to WSBTV.com reporter Brian Johnson that the incident has left the Atlanta housewife stunned and speechless.Nelson, who represented Burruss during the taping of the show, said the family is asking for privacy during this very difficult time.Burruss, an award-winning singer-songwriter and former member of the ’90s R&B group Xscape, has had numerous disagreements with her mother on the show regarding her relationship with A.J. A.J. received a severe head injury during a fight at The Body Tap Club in the 1200 block of Marietta Boulevard in Atlanta.

Roman Polanski Arrested
Director Roman Polanski was arrested by Swiss police as he flew in for the Zurich Film Festival and faces possible extradition to the United States for having sex in 1977 with a 13-year-old girl, authorities said Sunday. "There was a valid arrest request and we knew when he was coming," ministry spokesman Guido Balmer told The Associated Press. "That's why he was taken into custody."
Polanski was scheduled to receive an honorary award at the festival when he was apprehended Saturday at the airport, the Swiss Justice Ministry said in a statement. It said U.S. authorities have sought the arrest of the 76-year-old director around the world since 2005.

San Diego County Sheriff's Lt. Gary Steadman said 27-year-old Tila Tequila signed a citizen's arrest warrant early Sunday, charging Merriman with battery and false imprisonment. Tequila was taken to a hospital. Her condition was not immediately available.Merriman, 25, was taken into custody by deputies who responded to a distress call at his home in Poway, north of San Diego.

DJ AM Dies!
Sources tell us he was found in his apartment at around 5:20 PM. We're told drug paraphernalia was found at the scene. We're told DJ AM had not been seen or heard from for a few days -- one of his friends went to check on him, but got no response after knocking on his apartment door. We're told the friend called the police, who broke down the door and then found DJ AM's body. Back in September of 2008, DJ AM and Travis Barker survived a plane crash in South Carolina. Four people died in the crash -- which was caused when the airplane aborted takeoff and then ran off the runway. DJ AM and Barker were the only survivors.

Billy Mays Dead
Sources have confirmed that TV infomercial icon Billy Mays has died today in his Tampa Home.
The 911 call came In as his wife stated he was unresponsive.

UPDATE: According to tmz.com "According to the Tampa PD, the 50-year-old TV pitchman was found unresponsive by his wife Deborah at 7:45 AM. TMZ has learned Mays' body has already been removed from his home.
Mays had just returned from Philadelphia, where he shot a new OxiClean commercial. He was a passenger aboard a plane that suffered a blown front tire upon landing. He told a local TV station, "All of a sudden as we hit you know it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping. It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head."
So this could be a sign of trama to the head that wasn't checked out by any doctors.
"Mays was at his home around 6:00 PM last night, and according to a source Mays was "acting fine and normal ... he was talking business with his father-in-law."
UPDATE: TMZ.COM also just now reports "The FAA is already deflecting blame for the death of Billy Mays -- claiming the legendary TV pitchman wasn't wearing a seat belt when he took a shot to the head during a rough landing on a flight he was on yesterday.
Here's what we know -- Billy Mays was aboard US Airways Flight 1241 flying from Philadelphia, which landed roughly when the front tire blew out as it touched down"
After the plane touched he sent out this twitter: "just had a close call landing in Tampa. The tires blew out upon landing. Stuck in the plane on the runway. You can always count on US Air."
An autopsy on the star will begin tomorrow at noon.

Here is a shot obtained by TMZ.COM of Janet Jackson arriving in LA, as all of you know her brother Michael died yesterday of apparent cardiac arrest. TMZ.COM also has the 911 call placed by Jackson's doctor shortly after her stopped breathing, and also had many rumors as to what caused his death. The Coroner will hold a press confrence soon (live stream on the site) Jackson's Autopsy has already begun but because of the extensive testing we won't know what truly happend for another 6-8 weeks.

No one has been able to confirm but CNN and the LA Times both say Michael Jackson has died. According to CNN it was due to a heart failure on the way to the hospital. CNN only confirmed reports that the singer went into Cardiac arrest and was in a Coma.

"Farrah Fawcett died at 9:28 AM today. Ryan O'Neal and Alana Stewart were at her bedside. She was 62.
She died at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica in the ICU. Her only child, Redmond, was not present."
Farrah is in a better place, may she rest comfortably and be at peace.

In a just-released statement Trump and Miss California Pageant organizers say that Prejean has been fired for violating her contract—specifically for lending her famous face to outside organizations without getting permission from her handlers.
"I told Carrie she needed to get back to work and honor her contract with the Miss California USA Organization and I gave her the opportunity to do so," said Trump.
"Unfortunately it just doesn’t look like it is going to happen.
"Carrie is a beautiful young woman and I wish her well as she pursues her other interests."
